The Institute of Bankers in Malawi (IOB Malawi)is pleased to advise its esteemed students and members of the general public that the next semester for study programs for May 2012 examinations commenced on 1st December, 2011 and will close on 31st March, 2012.

Programs of study
IOB Malawi is a professional examining board which is affiliated to the University of Malawi. It offers professional courses in banking leading to award of Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Banking and related areas of specialisation upon successful completion of the study programs.
Certificate in Banking
Certificate level comprises eight subjects which are divided Into Parts A and B each comprising four subjects. Students are required to complete Part A before registering for subjects in Part B. The courses are as follows:
Introduction to Banking
Introduction to Business Accounting
Introduction to Business Communication
Introduction to Economics Customer Service Fundamentals of Business Statistics Introduction to Management
Basic Principles of Law
The certificate in banking program offers excellent opportunities to school leavers for excellent employment prospects in the financial sector upon successful completion of the study program.
Diploma In Banking
There are eight subjects out of seventeen to be completed for the Diploma in Banking qualification and are sub-divided into generic core, specialist core and electives. Various combinations lead to the following areas of specialization:
- Credit Management
- Marketing
- Treasury & International Banking
- Estates & Trusts Management
- Financial Planning
Advanced Diploma in Banking
Students can effectively start registering for Advanced Diploma.
Entry Requirements
The Certificate in Banking courses are open to holders of M.S.C.E or its equivalent qualifications while the Diploma program is open to those who have completed Certificate in Banking studies or those in possession of a degree from a recognized university or institution.
Teaching facilities
IOB Malawi study programs are essentially through distant education. Through the partnership arrangement with the University of Malawi, the Management Development Centre at the Polytechnic will be conducting week ends (Saturday and Sunday) classes for those who would like some tuition.
In Lilongwe, tuition for IOB Malawi courses is provided by Corporate Governance College. Students who would like to attend classes are being advised to contact these institutions directly.
Other support services to students
The Institute has a resource centre where students access library facilities, study rooms and other facilities. The Institute will introduce revision classes to assist students prepare adequately for their examinations.
